An Update on Life
Ok, I know its been a long time since I last put anything here. Sorry about that who ever you are. Since my show at the Incinerator Gallery earlier this year I have been working, more than I'd like to be, and indulging various hobbies and of course making what I think is Art. I could also blame TUMBLR for the lack of activity, but really I only use that when I'm at work, and it is more of a bookmarking tool. Although I'm sure it is a fantastic resource for someone with similar interests. Feel free to check it out here (http://mwallus.tumblr.com/).
I have been searching for the what next in my life in terms of Job, Art, Study, and even location. With such heavy thoughts I have managed to do a Performance at RMIT. It had been nearly a year since I last publicly performed a soundscape set. I'm not convinced that it was the best performance, although people who saw it seem to have enjoyed it.

What Rolls Down Stairs?
I have recently let a friend use one of my older tracks for a video. Its a short promotional film for League Of Gentlemen. They have been doing some illustration work around. I was very happy to have the experience. Check it out here

Who's Slack?
I've been in the studio all morning today working on some video experiments. They are inspired by Slacker, its a movie by Richard Linklater from 1991. It encaptulates a feeling that has probably more than effected the kind of work I make. The funny thing is that I had never actually seen it untill 2009, but is probably best described as the feeling of the time, and so many films I had seen would be described as being in the slacker genre. The movie is a kind of intelectual, mundane, directionless conversation exploring existance. And what does this have to do with me and what I do? Well, I have been thinking about time spent "working" in the studio. When I sit down and day dream or noodle out the millionth failed sketch, it seems, so much time is spent incubating ideas, action is only the smallest part of making work. So last night I began writting a "slacker" script about time in the studio. Today I go up and set up the scene, practiced my lines a few times. What should I wear? Where whould I sit? Lighting, etc, etc. But what was really fun was setting up the sound recording so that you can hear me blab.

Essentials Fire/Place/Residencies
I was just in an Art exhibition called, Essential Fire with a group of lovely people the Moonee Ponds Incinerator Gallery. This was the second exhibition of Field Recordings made in the Tate Modern in August last year. So the title I thought was appropriate was Presentation II. The show consisted of a wooden fruit box on the ground in the corner sitting on a scarf. On top of the box, sits two stacks. One is a pile neatly piled tower of 50 CD-R's, with the title of the work, catalogue number and other details printed on it. The other, leaves of paper with the list of contents of the CD-R.
The title Placard read: “Through exploring the sound of great works of Art from renowned Institutions, I hope to offer a new experience. With recordings from The Mona Lisa to works by Joseph Beuys, what remains are overlooked Fragments, re-packaged for consumption, akin to concert bootlegs.”
You may have noticed that there is a page titled, “BOOTLEG PROJECT”, you will soon find a few things appearing here. Pictures/Sounds/Play Lists. As this has developed, what I see appearing is, documentation from the Group show at the end of last year and the recent Essential Fire exhibition. The bootleg Project seems to be developing to involve more than recordings made in Art Galleries. Using field recording as a method of expression.
Lastly I want to mention what I have been thinking about in terms of the next move. I would like to make some more recordings and release compositions exploring Place (This was a link to a text which I am referring to in the context of my work). I have been investigating different places that I may be able to do this.
Below is a link to an article of exciting sounding Residencies:

An update on whats been happening: Busy busy busy.
I am part of a group exhibition in March at the Moonee Ponds Incinerator. The show is titled the Eternal Fire, and I’m going to be showing my Bootleg Art Recordings! It’s going to be a fun show.
I am also working with some people on a record for the RPM Challenge. Basically, the idea is that you have a month to make a record that is either 35 minutes long or 10 tracks and the theme is Kitchen. Fun! The only hiccup has been that I made a mistake with the dates it’s for February not January, and I started in January I guess I'm just extra prepared!
Other stuff that’s been happening is looking at options for future study! I recently purchase some of these :
JBL LSR2325 - http://cn.jblpro.com/catalog/General/Product.aspx?PId=280&MId=5
They are a huge step up from what I have been using. I could blab about why that is but all I need to say is; they make it possible to hear more than before.
So happy New Year and all that bollocks. I look forward to another productive year.

After nearly two years of being down it appears that my website is back! as it was two years ago! weird. Well, I'll continue to develop it, although this experience hasn't left a lot of confidence in the medium. I will continue using both this platform and the other. So if you remember the old site, it is http://www.feillafe.com. check it out.
